SINGAPORE, 26 March 2023 – FairPrice Group (FPG) today announced that it will be offering beverages with snacks or dates at 60 FairPrice supermarkets to Muslim customers during the month-long Ramadan period, from March 23 to April 21.
Muslim customers will be provided with refreshments 30 minutes before and after Iftar, the meal taken after evening prayers during Ramadan. This is the 15th year FPG has run this community outreach programme.
This year, FPG will also be donating S$40,000 through the FairPrice Foundation to Yayasan MENDAKI’s Education Trust Fund to support children from low-income families in the Muslim community.
Mr Tng Ah Yiam, Chief Procurement Officer, FairPrice Group, said, “In keeping with the spirit of Ramadan, FairPrice Group continues to do our part for the less fortunate. Beyond providing children from lower-income families with financial support for education through Yayasan MENDAKI, we also seek to foster a more caring and inclusive society. We hope our efforts will inspire both businesses and individuals alike in lending a helping hand to those among us who need some extra assistance.”
The event, held at FairPrice @ Our Tampines Hub, was graced by Mr Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for Social and Family Development, Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs and Adviser for Tampines GRC GROs. He presented festive bags filled with essentials such as rice, oil and cereal to the beneficiaries from Yayasan MENDAKI. Minister Masagos also witnessed the presentation of FairPrice Foundation’s cheque to Mdm Zulaiha Yusuf, Deputy CEO of Yayasan MENDAKI.

Over the past decade, FairPrice Foundation has donated more than S$400,000 to Yayasan MENDAKI. The donation will be used towards helping students defray costs in their educational pursuits, such as paying for school fees, transportation, and purchase of school textbooks, assessment books and stationery.
Increasing halal-certified range of products
To cater to the varying needs of the Muslim community, FairPrice has also increased its halal-certified products to 9,500 this year, more than a 21 per cent year on year increase. Some of the new products featured at the products showcase include a range of housebrand and imported products, as well as fresh and frozen products. These include medjool dates, Pasar baby pearl brinjal, ready-to-cook satay, beef ‘rendang’ (stewed meat) as well as pre-mix pastes and sauces.
