- FairPrice celebrates the Nation’s 55th Birthday in solidarity with Singaporeans
- All FairPrice stores islandwide will have the pledge broadcasted at 8.20pm
Singapore, 7 August 2020 – NTUC FairPrice (FairPrice) is inviting all shoppers to participate in a live Pledge Moment on 9 August 2020 across all FairPrice, FairPrice Finest and FairPrice Xtra outlets islandwide, and selected Cheers and FairPrice Xpress convenience stores. The event commemorates Singapore’s 55th National Day, in conjunction with the national Pledge Moment that will take place at this year’s National Day celebrations.
Mr Seah Kian Peng, Group CEO, FairPrice Group said, “This year, we are unable to gather and celebrate National Day as we have done so in previous years due to the disruption caused by Covid-19. The Pledge Moment at our stores is therefore even more meaningful as it enables us to stand together in unison and display our solidarity with the nation during this period. FairPrice also takes this occasion to pledge our commitment towards our social mission as we understand consumers’ concerns on the accessibility and affordability of their food and grocery needs.”
The live pledge-taking moment will take place concurrently with the public warning system broadcast at 8.20pm to signal the start of the Pledge Moment. An announcement will be broadcasted at participating FairPrice outlets and Cheers convenience stores to invite customers and staff members to participate.
Earlier in the morning of 9 August, FairPrice will also be participating in the Anthem Moment, with a flag raising ceremony and the recital of our National Anthem at NTUC FairPrice Hub @ Joo Koon. FairPrice Hub is among eight locations in Singapore, selected to represent the various key national sectors for Singapore amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. FairPrice Hub represents the Trade and Industry sector, which signifies the availability of essential items to all Singaporeans during the pandemic and the keeping of supply chains intact as well as ensuring that prices remain affordable.
Customers are reminded to continue maintaining safe distancing in stores amidst the celebration. Floor markings at checkout queues, crowd control measures, in-store posters and announcements are in place. All shoppers and staff are also required to put on a mask at all times in stores, and help facilitate contact tracing by checking in using GovTech’s SafeEntry system or scanning their National Registration Identity Card (NRIC) before entering our stores.
