Unity Pharmacy at NEX mall temporarily closed

  • Part-time staff diagnosed with COVID -19; store closed for deep cleaning while all employees in close contact with staff have been put on leave of absence

Singapore, 1 April 2020 – Unity Pharmacy this evening announced that it will be temporarily closing its standalone outlet at Nex Mall [23 Serangoon Central, #03-37, S(556083)] after a part-time staff was diagnosed with Covid-19.

The employee has since been hospitalised while all staff who work in that store have been put on leave of absence. The affected staff works as a part-time retail assistant. The employee was last at work on 30 March and visited the doctor on 31 March for a fever and has since been on medical leave. This evening, the employee was diagnosed with COVID-19. Unity is extending all the necessary assistance to the affected staff and the employee’s family during this time.

The store will be closed for two days, for deep cleaning procedures, in line with the National Environment Agency’s guidelines to disinfect the premises and will re-open the day after tomorrow on 3 April 2020.

Customers may visit the nearest store in the vicinity located at Blk 266 Serangoon Central Drive #01-253 S(550266).

Unity is monitoring the situation closely and is working with authorities to assist them with contact tracing and ensure all stores are safe for customers and staff.

Unity apologises for any inconvenience caused and would like to assure the community that it is sparing no effort to protect its staff and customers so that they can continue to work and shop in a safe and healthy environment.

Precautionary Measures to Enhance Safety at Stores

Since the onset of COVID-19, Unity has put in place stringent precautionary measures to maintain a safe and clean environment for its shoppers and staff in accordance with Ministry of Health (MOH)’s guidelines.

These measures include stepping up cleaning regimes, especially for high touch surfaces like shelves, checkout counters every 4 hours. All staff and suppliers will also have their temperature taken at least twice a day and hand sanitisers have been made available for customers to use.

Customers are also encouraged to maintain safe distancing. Floor markings at checkout queues, in-store posters and announcements have been put in place to remind customers to do so.
