SINGAPORE, 4 March 2025 – To ensure that all in Singapore observing Ramadan have the essentials they need to start every day of the season strong, FairPrice Group (FPG) announced today that it will distribute Ramadan care packs to more than 1,300 Yayasan MENDAKI (MENDAKI) beneficiaries throughout the month of Ramadan.
Each care pack, valued at S$40 and sponsored by FairPrice Foundation (FPF), contains nutritious breakfast staples such as pitted dates, milo, cereal, soy milk, and tinned tuna, to provide beneficiaries with the energy they need from their pre-dawn meal.
This distribution kicked off at ITE College Central on 4 March 2025, and will continue across all three ITE Colleges and MENDAKI’s Satellite Centres in Singapore. This initiative was organised by FPF in collaboration with MENDAKI, and is part of FPG’s wider commitment to strengthen community bonds, and make every day a little better throughout the Ramadan season.
Jean Khong, General Manager, FairPrice Foundation, shared, “We understand that Ramadan is a time of reflection for the Muslim community. For SG60 and in the years to come, FairPrice Foundation is committed to meaningfully engaging and serving Singaporeans in need. Through FPG’s distribution of Ramadan care packs, complimentary Buka Puasa refreshment sets at FairPrice stores, and upcoming initiatives, we hope to uplift all our Muslim neighbours this Ramadan season.”
Zulaiha Yusuf, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Yayasan MENDAKI, highlighted, “FairPrice Foundation is a valued partner and has made generous contributions to uplift the community since 2014. While MENDAKI supports the education needs of the students, we are grateful that more than 1,300 of their families will benefit from Fairprice Ramadan Care Packs this year. We would like to thank FairPrice Foundation for their generosity. We hope this act of kindness will encourage more to come forward and partner MENDAKI to strengthen the fabric of our community.”
Volunteers from FPG and MENDAKI came together on 3 March to prepare the Ramadan care packs for distribution at MENDAKI’s headquarters in Siglap. Close to 200 more of the care packs will be distributed to families and individuals in need at FPG’s and the National Trades Union Congress’s (NTUC) joint Buka Puasa event on 6 March, where both organisations will join M³ beneficiaries in the fast-breaking evening meal taken by Muslims during Ramadan.
