- From 1 January to 1 March 2025, FPG will double its 3% discount for CHAS Blue and Orange cardholders every Thursday and Friday respectively to 6% across all FairPrice stores and Unity outlets
- The discount scheme – comes as a ‘thank you’ to Singaporeans for helping to raise over $1.6 million for families in need through FPG’s A Full Plate: Singapore’s largest food donation drive
SINGAPORE, 30 DECEMBER 2024 – In celebration of Singapore’s 60th birthday (SG60), FairPrice Group (FPG) today announced that it will double its discount schemes for Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) Blue and Orange cardholders to six per cent1 for the first 60 days of 2025. The initiative, funded by FairPrice Foundation (FPF), is part of FPG’s efforts to show appreciation for the support that Singaporeans gave to A Full Plate: Singapore’s largest donation drive, run by FPG with support from FPF from October to November 2024.
Through A Full Plate, FPG has raised over S$1.6 million to provide 600,000 beneficiaries of 10 charity partners2 in Singapore with fresh, nutritious groceries and hot meals. The donation drive rallied Singaporeans together in support of the vulnerable, with contributions coming in from the community across FPG’s 570 touchpoints from FairPrice stores, Unity Pharmacies, Cheers and Kopitiam outlets, to the FPG app and online at FairPrice.
Vipul Chawla, Group CEO of FairPrice Group said that the success of A Full Plate, Singapore’s largest donation drive is a testament to the heart and compassion that Singaporeans have for their neighbours in need, even in the midst of stubborn inflation and a challenging economic backdrop. With food and grocery expenditure accounting for more than 20% of the average Singaporean household monthly budget3 FPG believes that more can be done for lower income groups who are probably spending an even higher percentage.
“The launch of our six per cent discount initiative for CHAS Blue and Orange cardholders is just the beginning of the year-long birthday celebration we have planned to mark Singapore’s diamond jubilee. As a household brand that has grown with the economic success of the nation, we are committed to giving back in authentic ways so as to build a stronger Singapore; making every day a little better for those we serve,” he added. ”
NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng said, “As Singapore celebrates SG60, NTUC remains committed to our social mission in caring for our workers and ensuring that no worker is left behind. FairPrice Group’s enhanced discount scheme for CHAS cardholders demonstrates our continued efforts to care for and help Singaporeans cope with rising costs. Together with our enterprise businesses like FairPrice Group, we will continue to strengthen our social compact and build an inclusive and caring Singapore.”
Earlier this month, FPG announced the renewal of its daily discount schemes for Seniors, Pioneer and Merdeka Generation individuals, and CHAS Blue and Orange cardholders through to end-20254. CHAS Blue and Orange cardholders currently enjoy a three per cent discount on purchases at all FairPrice stores and Unity outlets5.
FPG is the first retailer in Singapore to offer a discount scheme for CHAS Orange cardholders, whose total gross household monthly income per family member living together ranges from S$1,501 – S$2,3006.
To benefit from these discount schemes, eligible customers need to present either their physical or digital (through the Singpass app) membership cards (PG, MG, CHAS Blue or Orange card) to cashiers upon checking out their purchases. At self-checkout counters, customers must select the relevant discount option to apply it to their purchases. These discounts are valid for up to S$200 per transaction per day.
In 2024, FPG also introduced a series of initiatives aimed at helping Singaporeans stretch their dollars. These included price freezes on popular seafood and exclusive promotions for produce ahead of Chinese New Year, S$4.5 million worth of NTUC Union and Link member deals for May Day, and the Save Every Day campaign, which provided customers with over 400 unique savings coupons worth over $2,000.
To illustrate potential savings, the table below features items picked based on different customer profiles and cross referenced with Price Drop Buy Now (PDBN) and Everyday Low Price (EDLP) promotions dated 19 December and 26 December 2024 respectively.
