The store places special emphasis on promoting local brands and locally made products. Mr Seah Kian Peng, Group CEO, FairPrice Group, said, “This new integrated store concept complements our focus to put customers first and make everything about food easy. More importantly, it supports and promotes local brands and businesses, reflecting our commitment to support locally grown and locally made food. This helps contribute to the government’s 30 by 30 goal to boost our nation’s food security resilience.”

Ms Ng Hsueh Ling, Managing Director, Singapore at Lendlease said, “Parkway Parade has been serving the community in the East Coast area for over 37 years and we continue to bring exciting and innovative concepts to better serve the evolving needs of the community. In our latest update, we are excited to partner NTUC FairPrice, a household name, to help promote and support local brands in Singapore. Additionally, given the unique location of Parkway Parade where we see a dynamic mix of people from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds, we are confident that the comprehensive range of classic as well as artisanal products the FairPrice Xtra hypermarket offers will cater to the diverse customer lifestyles.”

Doing Good for Seniors and Children in Need

To commemorate the launch of the new hypermarket, FairPrice has pledged to donate $2 for each box of Pasar mandarin oranges sold from today until 12 February at all 149 FairPrice stores across the island, up to a total of $80,000 which will be donated equally between Children’s Aid Society and Lions Home for the Elders to benefit their beneficiaries.

Commenting on the charity initiative, Mr Seah added,“We are glad to continue our tradition of spreading festive cheer to the less fortunate over the Chinese New Year period. Through this initiative, we galvanise and involve the community in doing good together.”

Precautionary Measures to Enhance Safety in Stores

Taking reference from the Ministry of Health’s and Enterprise Singapore’s safe management protocols, FairPrice has put in place various precautionary measures to maintain a safe shopping environment at all FairPrice stores, including the new FairPrice Xtra hypermarket at Parkway Parade.

All staff have been issued with masks, to be worn during the course of their work, and hand sanitisers have been made available for use. Additionally, they also have their temperature taken at least twice a day.

This is complemented by other initiatives such as floor markings at checkout queues, broadcast announcements, and in-store posters to inform customers of our strict and stringent processes, as well as contact tracing efforts in compliance with the latest precautionary measures set by the authorities. FairPrice also maintains high-frequency cleaning regimes, especially for high-touch surfaces like railings, shelves, trolleys, baskets and checkout counters.

FairPrice Xtra at Parkway Parade is located at 80 Marine Parade Rd, #03-27/28, Parkway Parade Singapore 449269. The store is open from 08.00am to 11.00pm daily.
